Acceptable Use & Abuse Policy
These terms refer to FIRST SERVER. The legal entity, registered address and contact details are published in our Legal Notice. You can contact us through the Contact Us page.
1. Customer responsibility
You are responsible for the legality of your content, software, communications and activity conducted through your services, and for obtaining necessary permissions and legal bases. Keep your identity and contact details accurate and respond to reasonable security and abuse enquiries. Secure accounts, update vulnerable software and take reasonable measures to prevent compromised servers from harming others.
2. Prohibited activity
- Malware distribution, phishing, fraud, credential theft and impersonation.
- Unauthorised access, exploitation, scanning directed at systems without permission, denial-of-service attacks or operating attack infrastructure.
- Unsolicited bulk messaging, deliberate circumvention of abuse controls or unauthorised use of third-party networks.
- Unlawful content, child sexual abuse material, infringement of intellectual property or privacy rights, and other activity prohibited by applicable law.
- Resource abuse or interference with other customers, the host platform or network, including evasion of contracted resource limits.
Legitimate security research requires authorisation from the owners of all affected systems and must remain within contracted service limits.
3. Reporting illegal content or abuse
Use the abuse email on our Contact page. Include the exact URL or IP address, relevant timestamps and time zone, a reasoned explanation of the alleged violation and supporting evidence. Provide your name and email where required, and a statement that the notice is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. Where the law allows anonymous reports, identifying details are not required. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information or unlawful material itself; provide its location instead.
4. Investigation and measures
We assess sufficiently precise reports in a timely and objective manner. We may request clarification, contact the customer, preserve relevant records where lawful, restrict specific activity, suspend a service or terminate for serious or repeated violations. Measures should be proportionate to the risk. Immediate action may be needed to stop ongoing harm or comply with an order. Reports and customer information are disclosed only where lawful and necessary.
Where required by law, we will provide acknowledgement, a decision or reasons for restrictions and information on available redress, subject to lawful confidentiality restrictions. Customers may request review through our contact channel with evidence correcting or explaining the alleged activity. This does not restrict statutory complaint or court remedies.
5. Claims and legal cooperation
You must cooperate reasonably to remedy violations attributable to your service. Responsibility for claims, losses and recoverable costs arising from your conduct is governed by section 4 of the Terms of Service, including its safeguards and consumer exceptions. FIRST SERVER may comply with valid legal orders; this policy does not create an obligation to disclose information without a lawful basis or to monitor all customer content.
